“Green Remodeling” or “Green Design” is an all encompassing concept aimed to help stem the use of our natural resources and preserve our ecosystem. It is a multifaceted issue that embraces such topics as what raw materials are used for fabricating products, demolition and installation techniques and energy consumption of appliances.
When remodeling, consider using cabinetry that has earned the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer’s Association Environmental Stewardship Certification. This program measures environmental performance in manufacturing, process and products.
Look for stone countertops that have received Environmental Management System Certification and/or GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification, for meeting standards of low hazardous emissions.
Consider using “earth friendly” flooring materials that are sustainable and renewable such as bamboo and cork and purchase appliances, windows and doors that have a high Energy Star rating (a system developed jointly by the U.S. Environmental Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy).
DreamWork Kitchens is committed to keeping abreast of the latest developments in “Green Remodeling” thus ensuring that each renovation has as little impact on our environment as possible.
